A Confusing Craigslist Ad and a Missing License Plate: Brecksville Police Blotter

The following information was supplied by the Brecksville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported by the Brecksville Police Department on Sept. 7. The information was compiled from police reports.

A homeowner finds her home for rent on Craigslist
A woman reported possible fraud to the police on Sept. 7. The woman had recently bought a rental home in the 5100 block of Oakes Road. She was looking at similar rental homes on Craigslist on Sept. 4, to help her figure out a fair price for rent, and noticed that her home was already listed. She checked it as “prohibited” and that ad was taken down, but the resident noticed her home listed on Craigslist under different posting numbers during the next few days. The most recent post had a picture of the outside of the house and fake photos of a remodeled kitchen. Someone also opened an email address with the woman’s name.

Missing license plate
A man stopped by the station on Sept. 7 to report a missing license plate. The man’s 1978 Cadillac had been listed as for sale at for the past month, and the day before, he had noticed that the back license plate was gone. A man had gone for a test drive in the car on Aug. 20, but the plate was still on the car when he returned to the gas station. The owner parked the car after that test drive and did not move it until Sept. 6. The front license plate was still on the car.
