Bakery Truck Crashes, Takes Out Power at Brecksville Town Center

A bakery truck docking at the Marc’s crashed into a utility pole, taking out power to the Brecksville Town Center plaza at around 11 a.m. April 15.

The driver reported that the truck's parking brake failed.

According to the police report, the driver had exited the truck, and when he returned, he found that “it had left the dock plate area and rolled downhill into a CEI pole with transformer and high voltage lines.”

One witness recounted an “explosion and sparking of wires.”

It was enough to take out the power to the plaza and damage two parked cars.

First Energy crews were called to the scene to fix the lines and restore power.
