Unusual-Looking Cigarette Catches Officer's Eye on a Traffic Stop: Brecksville Police Blotter

The following information was supplied by the Brecksville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following incident was reported by the Brecksville Police Department on Dec. 11. The information was compiled from a police report.

A police officer pulled over a car with a loud exhaust on Vaughn Road at about 11:25 p.m. on Dec. 11.

The driver, a 19-year-old Solon man, was asked to produce his driver's license, registration and proof of insurance. When he leaned toward the glove box, the officer noticed a burnt, filterless cigarette with a red mark on it. The mark was unlike any the officer had seen on a normal cigarette; it looked like a marijuana "roach."

The officer asked to see the cigarette, which smelt like a mixture of burnt and raw marijuana, according to the police report.

The officer found a clear plastic bag with suspected marijuana in the center console and a prescription bottle, written for someone else, with more suspected marijuana in a tan bag in the trunk.
