Brecksville Man Finds Someone Else Filed Taxes Using His Social Security Number

The man reported the identity theft to the IRS and Beachwood Police

When a Brecksville man tried to file his taxes earlier this month, he received an unexpected reply from the IRS.

Someone had already filed a federal tax return using his social security number.

Cress contacted both the IRS identity theft department and Brecksville Police as a safety precaution.

He also flagged all of his bank accounts to monitor for fraudulent activity.

Thus far, none of his accounts have been tampered with, according to the police report.
