Brecksville Police Blotter: Theft and Property Damage

The following information was supplied by the Brecksville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported by the Brecksville Police Department on Aug. 15 through 20. The information was compiled by police reports.

Petty theft

A Brecksville man and woman were charged with petty theft after trying to take plants and rocks from a home on Whitewood Road on Aug. 20. A neighbor called the police around 1:41 p.m. to tell them that someone was taking landscaping materials at the property, which had been foreclosed on and was for sale. The 53-year-old man and 50-year-old woman said the plants had sentimental value, and that they planned to give them to the woman’s mother. The plants and rocks were removed from a car and the two were charged with petty theft.

Reported theft

On Aug. 17, a Westerville man reported that he thought a computer had been stolen from his car on June 23 at the Starbucks parking lot. He said he remembered having it in the car before going into Starbucks, but couldn’t remember if he locked his doors before going to get coffee. It was gone when he got home. The man, who works for Starbucks, was told to stop in and make a report the next time he was in the area.

Property damage

A Brecksville man reported property damage at his home on Glen Coe Drive on Aug. 15. The man had a Mercedes Benz on loan while his car was being repaired, and noticed a round dent in the back of the car when he came outside around 7:30 p.m. He had parked the car in his driveway about two and a half hours earlier without noticing any damage.
