Brecksville Police Blotter: Traffic Stops Lead to Discovery of Gun, Drugs

The following incidents were reported by the from Jan. 5 to Jan. 9. The information was compiled from police reports.
Can’t hide drugs from the police
Two officers pulled over a car that was driving the wrong direction on Stadium Drive shortly after midnight on Jan. 9. When the officers walked up to the car, they saw the backseat passenger, a 27-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man, trying to shove a plastic bag in his pocket. The officers found that that the bag held marijuana. When they asked the passenger to get out of the car, he dropped a pipe that had some marijuana residue in it. Police also found a jar in his pocket with the drug. The man was charged with drug and paraphernalia possession.
Officer finds gun on a traffic stop
When an officer tried to pull a car over on Interstate 77 at 8:50 p.m. on Jan. 5 to let the driver know about a rear light violation, the driver kept going. The officer thought the driver might be trying to evade the police, which was reported to dispatch, but the car eventually slowed to a stop. The driver, a 20-year-old Canton man, had a suspended license and a warrant for his arrest from Kent State University. The passenger had no warrants and was given a ride. The officer put the driver under arrest and began to search the car with another officer. They noticed the center armrest was askew and found a loaded gun inside. Lysander Mosely Jr. was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth-degree felony, and with driving under suspension and with license plate light and brake light violations.
