Fatal Car Accident Under Investigation

Brecksville resident Scott Lawrence Wayne was killed in the early-morning crash.

Brecksville’s and departments responded to a fatal car accident early Sunday morning.

Police have identified the victim as Scott Lawrence Wayne, 18, of Brecksville.

Wayne’s vehicle was the only one involved in the accident, and he was the driver and sole occupant, according to a press release from the police department.

According to the release, the police and fire departments responded to the accident at 3:41 a.m. on Sunday at 8903 Brecksville Rd. in Brecksville.

That address is the location of , known to many as the historic Red Brick Store. As of 8 p.m. on Sunday, the building was surrounded by yellow caution tape, and part of Chippewa Road was closed to traffic.

The police and the Office of the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner are investigating the accident.

Very sad. Additional reports state there appear to be no attempts to brake, which makes me wonder if he fell asleep at the wheel. Sorry for the loss to his family and friends.

Drove by this today. Must have been traveling pretty fast. There is a crack all the way up the building.
