Faulty Wipers Blamed, But Driver Still Arrested: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Brecksville Police Department

A police officer driving north on I-77 about 11:25 p.m. Sept. 20 got suspicious when a car in front of him swerved out of his lane, a report said.

The car also had a loud exhaust, the report said.

The officer pulled over the driver, who explained his windshield wipers had been working only intermittently, so he had reached outside to try to get them going again.

That might have gotten him out of a traffic ticket, but the officer discovered a few other problems: The man, 35, of Cleveland, was driving with a suspended license and was wanted by Shaker Heights on a traffic warrant.

He was arrested and charged with weaving, loud exhaust and driving under suspension, then turned over to Shaker Heights. His car was towed and impounded.
