FBI Finds Human Remains in Cuyahoga Valley National Park

The Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the FBI Evidence Response Team conducted a search in the area of State Route 303 and Riverview Road.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office is en route to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park after human remains were discovered off of the Valley Trail by two park visitors Monday around 5 p.m., according to our news partner WEWS Channel 5.

The Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the FBI Evidence Response Team conducted a search in the area of State Route 303 and Riverview Road.

Chief Ranger Chris Ryan said at a news conference that human remains found scattered over the area included a jawbone, partial skull and other miscellaneous bones. 

Sources connected to the investigation said there was also a woman’s bra found near the location of the human remains.

Ryan said the incident is being investigated as a homicide until proven otherwise.

The bones will be turned over to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s office for processing.

It’s unknown if this is the crime scene or just where the body was left.
