Filling Posts in the Brecksville Fire Department

Nikola Zamiska, a Brecksville firefighter, was sworn-in to replace Lt. Timothy Pristas. But there are still two open posts in the department.

The retirement of the longtime firefighter Lt. Timothy Pristas created at least a couple openings in the Brecksville Fire Department.

On Monday night, one of those positions was officially filled.

Nikola Zamiska, a Brecksville firefighter, was sworn-in to replace Pristas, who’d been with the department for more than 30 years before retiring in December.

City council OK’d a resolution on Tuesday night.

“We had some very good candidates,” said chief Ed Egut. “It was a very difficult decision.”   Two other firefighter posts remain open, but officials at city hall are looking to fill them, said Mayor Jerry Hruby.
