Halloween Hours Set for City's Trick-or-Treaters
Firefighters are encouraging kids and parents to follow a few safety tips during the holiday.
In a couple of days, Brecksville’s kids will turn into their favorite monsters, ghosts and cartoon heroes, and take to the streets to ask one simple question: trick or treat?
To keep kids safe during the ghoulish holiday, here are a few quick tips that were offered by Lt. Patrick Coleman:
- On streets with no sidewalks, always walk against traffic, not with it.
- Wear costumes with reflective material or apply reflective tape to your child’s costume to increase visibility.
- Parents are encouraged to inspect candy and dispose of anything that looks tampered with.
- Keep lit pumpkins away from combustible or fire-prone materials.
- Residents are advised to keep pets indoors as kids circulate on and off their front porches.
- Parents are encouraged to escort their young children across the street when trick-or-treating.
The city will observe Halloween from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31, according to the city's website.
