Police Find Drugs, Not Food, in a Lunch Box, Cooler: Brecksville Police Blotter

The following incidents were reported by the from April 21 to 27. The information was compiled from police reports.

Lack of lights leads to discovery of drugs
Police stopped a car on Interstate 77 at 2:11 a.m. on April 27 after noticing that it had no rear license plates lights lit up. The driver, an 18-year-old Cleveland man, said he knew there was a problem and that he had been stopped by the Broadview Heights police for the same reason earlier that night. The driver said he did not have his insurance or registration on him, and did not look for it. The officer told the driver that his refusal to look made the police nervous, and asked to search the car. The officer found some marijuana on the driver’s seat. The driver then told the officer that there was more in the trunk of the car in a cooler. The driver was charged with marijuana possession and for the lack of rear illumination. The passenger was allowed to leave.

The smell (and smoke) gave it away
Police pulled over a car on Chippewa Road at 3:56 p.m. on April 21 after watching it drive over the center line. The police noticed smoke and could smell an “enormous” amount of marijuana inside the car. When asked, the driver, a 42-year-old Broadview Heights man, said there was marijuana in the car. He pulled a plastic bag of marijuana out of a lunch box and gave it to police. Police also found a pipe with marijuana in it and another bag of marijuana. The driver was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also cited for his failure to maintain his lane.
