Police K-9 Sniffs Out Marijuana

Hydrant knocked off its block

A driver didn't just collide with the hydrant on Riverview Road near the Weise Road intersection. They knocked it competely off its base and pushed it 40 feet.

The crash occurred on the afternoon of Feb. 21.

Brecksville Police are still looking for the driver who collided with the hydrant but, whoever it is, they left the fog light covers on their car behind, according to the police report.

K-9 Peto sniffs out marijuana during traffic stop

A 46-year-old man from Grafton faces marijuana and paraphernalia possession charges after Brecksville K-9 Peto smelled the drug in his car on Feb. 18. After Peto indicated there were drugs inside, police searched the car and found a white ceramic pipe and an unlabeled prescription bottle with marijuana inside.

Copper piping stolen from Brecksville Road home

About 40 feet of copper piping was stolen from a home in the 8800 block of Brecksville Road.

Man faces drug charges after he is pulled over on Interstate 77

A 43-year-old man from Hinckley Township was charged with marijuana possession and open container after his car was pulled over in the early morning hours of Feb. 19 on Interstate 77.

An officer spotted the car going faster than 80 mph in a 60 mph zone, according to the police report. The driver -- a 43-year-old woman from New Philadelphia -- was charged with speeding and failing to reinstate her license.

The passenger, who owns the car, allowed police to search it. Officers found a few empty beer cans, four bags of marijuana in the trunk and a large, folding knife in the glove box.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested.
