Police: Mom Driving While Talking on Phone, Had Pot, Young Daughters in Car, But No Driver's License

The following information was supplied by the Brecksville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following incident was reported by the Brecksville Police Department on Dec. 3. The information was compiled from a police report.

An Akron woman was pulled over around 8 p.m. Dec. 3 for talking on her cell phone and not paying attention to the road.

The blue Dodge Neon she was driving switched lanes and swerve over marked shoulder lines three times on Interstate 77 South between the Valley Parkway and Snowville Road overpass, catching the police officer's attention.

The 31-year old woman said she and her two young daughters were on their way back to Akron after picking up some personal items for their new residence.

She said she borrowed the car from her friend, the vehicle owner, and had an Ohio Identification Card only. When the officer checked her records, he found the woman had no driver's license but several license suspensions.

As she was taken into custody, she told the officer she had two marijuana roaches in her purse but nothing else.

The car was towed, and police found a clear plastic bag with marijuana under the gas pedal on the driver's side during inventory.

The woman was charged with no operator's license, driving under a license forfeiture suspension, failure to drive within continuous lines/lanes and marijuana possession.
