Rude Remarks Spark Fight at Brecksville Road Restaurant

The following information was supplied by the Brecksville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following incident was reported by the Brecksville Police Department on Jan. 12. The information was compiled from a police report.

Some reportedly snide remarks about a person’s parenting skills led to a fight at the Burntwood Tavern at about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 12.

Police were called to the restaurant after an ambulance was requested for a customer who had fallen. When police arrived, they learned the man in question had been pushed by another customer who had already left.

The man told police that he had been waiting for a table with his wife and son in the bar. His wife went to get a soda for the son, when a customer began making remarks to her, insinuating that she was a bad parent for having the son in a bar. The man then went to speak to the customer. The two exchanged words before the suspect pushed the man. The report notes that his head hit a table and he lost consciousness for 30 to 60 seconds.

Police were able to figure out who the suspect was, and contacted him the next morning. The man agreed that he had made comments he should have kept to himself, but said the other man “got into his face,” and that he pushed him so he could leave.
