Sloppy Driving Leads to Drunken Driving Charges: Brecksville Police Blotter

The following incidents were reported by the Brecksville Police Department on Sept. 7 to 9. The information was compiled from police reports.
Drunken driving, 1
Police received a call about reckless driving at 6:26 p.m. on Sept. 9 and reported to the state Route 82/Brecksville Road area. Officers saw the driver in the turning lane at the intersection, but the driver ignored the “turning” part of that lane, deciding instead to go straight on state Route 82. The driver then cut in between two cars without signaling and was soon pulled over.
The driver, a 22-year-old Avon Lake woman, said she was headed to Avon Lake from “the game,” but did not know where she was when she was pulled over. The officer could smell alcohol, and the driver said she had been drinking. She failed the field sobriety tests. The driver was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, operating a vehicle under the influence by a breath test, driving in marked lanes and turning and stop signals.

At about 11:40 p.m. on Sept. 7, police received a call that a blue pickup was “all over the road,” almost hitting a guardrail on Snowville Road. Police found the vehicle and, after seeing the driver weaving in the lane and crossing the yellow line, pulled it over. The driver veered into a turning lane before stopping in a driveway off of Brecksville Road.
The driver’s eyes were watery and bloodshot, and the 41-year-old Brecksville man told police he had been drinking. He failed to complete the field sobriety tests and was taken back to the station. He was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, operating a vehicle under the influence by a breath test, driving in marked lanes and driving in a weaving course.
