Something 'Falls from Sky,' Damages Car: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Brecksville Police Department

A Broadview Heights woman went to police after her car was damaged in a construction zone.

A report said the woman was driving south on Riverview Road between Fitzwater and Greenhaven about 7:50 a.m. Sept. 11 when she saw people standing on the shoulder in safety vests.

She had slowed for the work zone when a baseball-sized "clump of dark matter" hit the hood of her car, "apparently falling directly from the sky," the report said.

She believed it was mulch and continued on her way.

She later discovered a two-inch dent in the hood of her 2013 Toyota.

Police observed the dent and noted black matter that appeared to be asphalt or tar on the roof of the car.

It wasn't clear where the work crew was from or why the asphalt hit the vehicle.
