Suspect Arrested in Copper Theft Case

Police say man arrested in Parma may have burglarized homes here

A man arrested by Parma police for stealing copper is being investigated for similar thefts in Brecksville and other cities, Cleveland.com reports.

Jeffrey Phillips, 32, of Parma, has been charged in connection with a burglary in his town.

He is also under investigation for suspected copper thefts in Parma Heights, Brecksville and Broadview Heights.

Several thefts of copper piping have been reported in Brecksville in recent years.

Although the price of copper is dropping, it's still a commonly stolen item because thieves typically target vacant homes — often those that were foreclosed.
