$86,000 in Casino Taxes Are Headed to Brecksville-Broadview Heights Schools This Month

Schools will be receiving the first set of casino tax payments in January.

Brecksville-Broadview Heights schools will soon receive more than $86,000 in taxes from the state’s new casinos. 

Figures for this first set of payments were released last week. The Plain Dealer reports that the state is passing out more than $37.9 million in casino taxes to schools and districts across Ohio. Schools will receive their payments—based on enrollment—in January and August each year.

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District will receive about $86,700, and the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center will receive about $18,800, according to information on the Ohio Department of Taxation's website. Cuyahoga County schools, including charter schools, will receive about $3,650,000 total.
