Brecksville City Council Appoints New Police Officer

Christopher Ribich is the third police officer appointed this month.

Brecksville City Council approved the appointment of a third new police officer during its meeting Tuesday night at City Hall.

Christopher Ribich will begin training at the Lorain County Community College’s police academy on March 5, said Police Chief Richard E. Mannarino.

Two new police officers were appointed during the Feb. 7 council meeting, and Mayor Jerry N. Hruby said the city hoped to appoint another officer before the end of 2012. This appointment came a bit earlier than expected. Mannarino said Ribich had already been interviewed, but the city needed to find an open spot at an academy for him to attend. The opening at Lorain County Community College came sooner than they thought.

Ribich will be at the academy until the end of June, Mannarino said. After that, he will begin training with the police department. Starting salary for police officers is $52,796 per year.
