The west end of the city-owned Blossom Hill property
could become a home to a new cemetery.
Cleveland.com reported that with Brecksville running low on available final resting places, the administration is considering using a portion of the 185-acre property for some additional gravesites.
Although no decision has been made, council discussed the idea at a special work session last week.
It’s not clear how much the project would cost — or how many plots the new site could hold — but Mayor Jerry Hruby said it may be necessary.
According to the Cleveland.com report, the Brecksville Cemetery has only 44 available gravesites remaining out of more than 5,000.
With about 40 burials per year, that cemetery is quickly filing up.
