Brecksville Getting Ready for New Police Station

At its recent meeting, city council's building and grounds committee discussed moving forward with a request for proposals for architects for the new police station.

When the city of Brecksville built its city hall and the current police station more than 40 years ago, the size of the space worked out just fine.

There were about 25 employees then. Today, there are about 130. 

When the city builds its new police station, it will certainly need some additional space.

At its recent meeting, city council’s building and grounds committee discussed moving forward with a request for proposals for architects for the new police station. 

Mayor Jerry Hruby said city is looking for a few criteria before selecting a firm: experience, success rate, references and ability to finish jobs on time.

During the past few years, the city bought the parcels of land across the street from the existing fire station for the new police station on Brecksville Road.
