City Council Appoints an Assistant Law Director

The appointment is a promotion for City Prosecutor Sergio DiGeronimo.

Sergio DiGeronimo got a promotion last night during from city prosecutor to assistant law director.

The city created the position to reward DiGeronimo’s hard work and give him more municipal experience, said Mayor Jerry N. Hruby. Hruby added that DiGeronimo is an “outstanding employee” who has a good attitude and a nice rapport with people.

“He puts his heart and soul into the community,” Hruby said during the meeting at .

DiGeronimo was one of the candidates being considered to fill the after Paul A. Grau’s death, Hruby said, but council didn’t feel he had enough municipal experience. Council wanted to give DiGeronimo more experience with the day-to-day operations of the city for the future.

David J. Matty, the city’s law director, said he thought the new position would be one DiGeronimo would enjoy as much as prosecuting.

As assistant law director, DiGeronimo will also continue his duties as city prosecutor. Hruby said he would not get a raise with the promotion.
