City Honors Bees Gymnasts with New Sign, Proclamations

Council also took time to recognize retiring Coach Ron Ganim.

As City Council President Greg Skaljac said, honoring the gymnastics team is “obviously becoming a tradition here.”

Brecksville City Council took some time to recognize the gymnastics team during Tuesday’s meeting, commending them on their hard work and their 9th state championship win in a row.

All in all, Mayor Jerry N. Hruby said, the Bees haven’t lost a single meet since 2003, leaving the team with a record of 696-0.

Council also took some time to recognize . Hruby called Ganim a great teacher, coach, family man and mentor.

“He’s done it all,” Hruby said.

Ganim thanked the city for their repeated support, and shared a sentiment from a , saying the team had taught him far more than he taught them. Watching the gymnasts fail and fall, only to get back up and try again, inspired him.

“Giving up is never an option,” he said.

Council handed out proclamations to all the members of the team and to the coaches, ending the short presentation with two standing ovations.

“See you next year,” Ganim joked, smiling on his way out the door.
