Council Honors Longtime Service Department Employees

honored three retiring employees of the Service Department during its meeting on Tuesday. All three—Robert Dickow, Dennis Knopf and Joe Mally—had been with the department for 29 to 30 years and had retired within the past two months.

Public Services Director Ron Weidig said it was a “significant loss” for the department.

“Whenever you called them, whenever you needed them, they performed 110 percent,” Weidig said.

Mayor Jerry N. Hruby took a few minutes to thank each employee. He noted that Knopf saved the city thousands of dollars by working on city vehicles in-house, commended Dickow for his hard work during the flood and praised Mally for how well he interacted with the public.
