Council to Consider ‘Overlay’ Zoning Change at Blossom Hill

Although the zoning change would give the "Office Building" zoning distinction to the property, the council measure is considered a sort of housekeeping issue.

Although the zoning change would give the “Office Building” zoning distinction to the property, the council measure is considered a sort of housekeeping issue.

Mayor Jerry Hruby told Brecksville Patch that the change would simply allow the city to have offices at the property — think administrative outposts — should it be needed.

Council will discuss the measure again on Tuesday, but a full three readings is expected before a vote will be taken.

“Some are going to say ‘oh my gosh, we’re going to have this big office building there,’” Hruby said. “Once they hear that’s not the case, it will all go to rest.”

Hruby said he met with the planning commission, and added that any other uses besides “community facility” — including schools, recreational facilities and athletic fields — would not be permitted without a zoning change.

Residents are encouraged to attend Tuesday night's council meeting to learn more about the zoning change.
