Did You Get Your Tax Refund This Year?

The IRS offers taxpayers tools to help them find their refunds.

Are you one of the more than 99,000 people who didn’t receive their refund checks this year?

About $153.3 million in refunds could not be delivered because of mailing address errors this year, according to a press release from the IRS. But that doesn’t mean taxpayers are out of luck.

If you think your refund has gone missing, you can check Where's My Refund?  online or call 1-800-829-1954. Individuals can check on the status of their refund and learn how to solve the problem.

There are four taxpayers from Brecksville who are owed refunds:

  • Ann S. Kuten
  • Norbert Ploski
  • Mary Pontikos
  • Shirley Wilson

And Cleveland.com has a complete list of Ohioans who are owed refunds.

Don't see your name on the list? You can still check for your refund online or by calling 1-800-829-1954.

The IRS notes that choosing to get a refund through direct deposit eliminates the mailing problem, and that e-filing helps speed up the process.

And beware of scams when waiting for your refund. The IRS does not contact taxpayers by email and does not ask for personal or financial information. Here’s some more information from the IRS on scams.
