From a Little to a Lot, Spending Varied for School Board Candidates

The candidate who received the most votes also did the most fundraising.

The biggest fundraiser in the race this fall was the candidate with the most voter support.

raised nearly $8,000 for her campaign, far more than any of the other candidates. She also had a clear lead on election night—she had more than 1,000 more votes than any other candidate.

Candidates filed campaign finance reports with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, showing their contributions and expenditures during the campaign for the Nov. 8, 2011 election. The post-general election reports were due on Dec. 16. Once the reports are audited, they will be available online. The figures below were pulled from the unaudited reports provided by the board of elections:

  • Mack raised $7,905. More than $2,500 of that was collected at a fundraiser. She spent $7,499.27.
  • Candidates and ran on a combined slate. They raised $550 and gave $2,866.10 of their own money. They spent $3,416.10, all of the money raised or put in by them. The two were both elected to the board.
  • was not re-elected. He raised $1,356 and spent the same, donating about $200 to the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Schools Foundation after the election.
  • was not elected to the board. He reported $385.30 in expenditures and no contributions.
  • A report was requested for , but none was provided. Information from the board said it was not on file.
