Planning Commission Discusses New Business, Cell Towers Coming to Town

New cell towers and business, Clinical Technology, are in Brecksville's future.

The Planning Commission meeting on Thursday involved plenty of new developments for Brecksville. The commission discussed some new cell towers and the development of Clinical Technology, Inc., on South Edgerton Road. They also addressed a residential deck installation and debated a possible seating area.

Here are a few of the highlights:

  • Verizon 4G customers in the area will be getting an upgrade soon. Planning Commission approved 12 new towers to replace the existing ones at a consistent tower height.

“This will allow for the 4G technology Verizon and some of the other carriers are upgrading to,” said Verizon representative Matt Newsome.

  • Clinical Technology is a manufacturer of high-tech medical supplies that is looking to build an office in Brecksville. The proposed two-floor structure would house an office and lease space for one of the company’s partners, which will sit next to a warehouse.

“The hope is that with your comments today, we can make admissions to formally apply,” said Gary Ogrocki, architect.

  • After by the Prodigal family to Planning Commission meetings, Ray Prodigal gained approval for his mother’s deck installation. On Thursday, the commission agreed on the deck layout and materials and decided to deal with any further decks in the development when the time came.
  • Starbucks is looking to improve its seating area by adding more tables in the rear of the building, but commission members did not approve the idea for safety reasons.

“This is an awfully tough location for outdoor seating,” said commission member Bob Hotaling about the lack of space on the sidewalk for tables.
