Plans for New Police Station Moving Forward

The city took the first step toward rezoning property for the station during the City Council meeting on Tuesday.

Brecksville took another step forward in its plans for a on Tuesday night.

The first reading of an amendment to the city’s zoning map took place during the . The city wants to change the zoning of three city-owned parcels of land—9020, 9028 and 9034 Brecksville Road—from single family zoning to community facilities zoning.

The land, which is across from the , would house the city’s new police station and municipal court facility. The , but plans are beginning to move forward.

Laura Redinger, chair of the council’s legislation committee, said the amendment has to go through three readings and then to the voters. Council will hear the second reading at their meeting on June 19. The plan is for the amendment to appear on the Nov. 6, 2012 ballot.
