Plans for Woodlands of Snowville Subdivision Moving Forward

The city's planning commission approved the first couple phases of the project in May. And on Tuesday, the plan took another step with council's approval.

The plan to build dozens of new homes in Brecksville took another step forward this week.

City council OK’d an easement for the installation and maintenance of a water main for circulation purposes for the  first phase of the Woodlands of Snowville project.

Developers want to see how the first project — with a total of 55 homes — goes before proposing any additional plans.

The city — as well as the US Army Corps of Engineers — approved Phase 1 (28 homes) and Phase 1A (27 homes).

Construction could begin soon.

The project is located on Snowville Road, about a mile east of Brecksville Road.

Mayor Jerry Hruby said recently that the city has nearly reached its development potential.

City councilman Mike Harwood agreed.

“The reality is that (the developers) own the property, it is zoned residential,” he said. “It’s the responsibility of the city to do the best for the property and to make sure it’s developed properly.”

This isn’t the first time the project was proposed to the city.

Both the city council and the planning commission OK’d the plans for a new subdivision back in 2008, before withdrawing the plans in 2012.
