Residents Voice Flooding Concerns at Council Meeting

City Council addressed Chippewa Creek flooding.

One issue that was discussed in both the was an overflowing creek.

A previous flooding concern with Chippewa Creek is gaining progress. Council received signatures from nearby residents to work on private property in the hopes of reducing water drainage problems. One affected resident on Mill Road, Linda Nemeth, voiced her concern at the committee meeting.

“When it becomes a raging river, that’s not acceptable,” she said. “Something has to be done for your residents.”

“It’s very hard to control the amount of water coming in, but we are looking into the problem as far as residue and debris [buildup],” he said.

About 10 Brecksville residents attended the council meeting to hear word on the creek project.

Council also discussed a few other flood-related issues on Tuesday:

  • The four storm water projects on Glen Forest Trail, Old Royalton Road, Timber Trail and Gateway should be completed by the end of October.
  • An almost $6,000 repair was granted for a water-damaged police vehicle from recent flooding.
