Rezoning Proposal for New Police Station to be on the November Ballot

City Council heard the proposal's third reading on Tuesday.

Plans for a moved forward on Tuesday when City Council heard and approved the third reading to .

The amendment would change the zoning of three parcels from single family zoning to community facilities zoning, allowing a new police station to be built on the city-owned land.

The proposed change will now go to the voters. Council President Greg Skaljac said in an email that the city’s law director will now get the ballot language approved by the county Board of Elections for the Nov. 6 ballot. For the change to pass, 55 percent of voters must be in favor of it.
