Road Closed: Expect to See a Lot of Detours This Summer

Here's a quick look at some of the major projects the city will be taking on later this year.

That’s right—there are at least three major projects that will shut down Brecksville roads this summer. Here’s what to expect:

  • Wiese Road: City Engineer Gerald Wise said could be closed for up to four months while crews replace the old retaining wall. The city has awarded a contract and work is allowed to begin on June 11, after school ends. Wise said the road will be closed from Riverview Road to the top of the hill.
  • Highland Drive: Highland Drive will probably be closed for about a month while workers replace a culvert, or drainage pipe. This project is a bit newer—the city will go out to bid on it this week. The work will likely begin in July or August, Wise said, and the road will be closed between Edgerton and Barr roads.
  • Royalton Road: The stretch of road that will be closed isn’t long, but it will affect a lot of people. from Highland Drive to Old Royalton Road, near the Interstate 77 ramps, while crews fix slippage due to a failed culvert. Wise said the contract only allows the road to be closed for two weeks. It will likely close in July. The city is still working through reviews with the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The good news? Wise said in a few weeks.
