Road Construction to Close Route 82 for Two Weeks

The project is expected to begin in July, after Home Days. However, no firm date has been set.

While the city repairs a failed culvert running under Royalton Road, a section of State Route 82 will close for two weeks at some point this summer.

The entire project will take a few months, and the road will be closed during the first two weeks of construction. 

“It’ll be closed for about 14 days,” said Ron Weidig, the city’s service director.

The best detour? Old Royalton, said Weidig. “It’s a quick little detour.”

The failed culvert is causing some slippage and barriers have been erected to keep drivers away from the area until construction begins.

Earlier this year, city officials learned that the city is receiving a grant for $230,000 for construction costs from the Ohio Department of Transportation
