Slow Day at the Polls

More than 2,500 people submitted absentee ballots, according to the Board of Elections.

The polls in Brecksville were pretty quiet this afternoon, and the coordinators at each location said that had been the case all day. 

There's just one issue on today's ballot -- a . 

Between 2 and 3:30 p.m., workers at all four locations said they had seen less than 200 voters. Marianne Borrelli, who was working at the Blossom location, said the flow had been “steady but slow.”

David Ream at the also said that traffic was light, but added that it had been busier in the afternoon at that location than in the morning. 

Bill Kovacs, who was working at , said he didn’t think it was a lack of interest that kept people away – he said there were a lot of absentee ballots noted. He did add that some people have come in and had to fill out provisional ballots because they never turned their absentee ballots in.

According to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections website, there were 3,200 vote by mail ballots requested as of Aug. 1, 2011, and 2,621 had been returned. There are about 11,000 registered voters in the city, according to information on the website
