State of the City and Police and Fire Appointments: 5 Things to Know This Week

It's going to be a busy week in Brecksville.

  1. Today is Presidents Day, and there are a number of offices closed. Here’s a quick look at some of them.
  2. Mayor Jerry N. Hruby will spend some time this week talking about the future of Brecksville. The casual “Conversation with the Mayor” event will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Human Services Center. The event is designed to give residents a way to hear the news directly from the mayor and get their questions answered.
  3. And the formal State of the City address will take place Wednesday evening at the Human Services Center. More details are available on the Chamber of Commerce's website.
  4. City Council will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall. According to the agenda, council members will appoint a new police patrolman and a new volunteer firefighter/paramedic.
  5. The Cuyahoga Valley Republicans will meet on Thursday. Members will discuss a variety of issues during the meeting, including whether to formally endorse a candidate for the presidential primary in March.
