Maryann Hibjan, RN, Receives February Franciscan Spirit Award

When four co-workers combine to nominate someone for The Village at Marymount’s Franciscan Spirit Award, that is high praise indeed.

Such was the case for Maryann Hibjan, RN, SCU Nurse Supervisor, who received the award for February 2014. Hibjan was nominated by Lisa Kotora, RN; Donna Nagel, LPN; Delonia Rencher, RN; and Janet Lincoln, RN.

“Maryann keeps calm and makes sure the building needs are met,” they wrote on Hibjan’s nomination form. “She has exceptional nursing knowledge and her follow through is excellent.”

Villa St. Joseph Administrator Dan Storey concurred: “Maryann is a terrific nurse and seems to stay on top of details.”

He added, “Everyone is happy when she’s here and she gives us a little extra safety net.”

In addition to Hibjan, Joanna Penn, LPN; and Michaelle Dial-Knox, LPN, also received consideration for the award.

“I’m not good at this (accepting praise),” a tearful Maryann said upon receiving the award. I’m very surprised.”

Hibjan received a $100 Giant Eagle gift card and is now eligible to be named the 2014 Franciscan Spirit Award winner of the year.
