5 Things You Need to Know This Week, Feb. 28 – March 6

Meetings, plays and emergency system testing will all take place this week in Brecksville.

  1. The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. tonight at the district’s . According to the agenda, the board will discuss a variety of issues, including the status of the district’s kindergarten program, and will go into executive session to discuss bargaining negotiations and sessions. 
  2. And City Council will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday at , with committee meetings beforehand. According to the agenda, the council will discuss a number of items, including a resolution that would let the mayor take the next step on some traffic studies in the city.
  3. The is hosting an all-ages “Star Party” at 7 p.m. Thursday, where guests can learn about different planets and stars. Debra Brass, the library's children's supervisor, said the event will go on rain or shine. Call the library to register.
  4. Brecksville Theater on the Square continues this weekend. This serious show takes a look at World War II and the Holocaust.
  5. The city will test its CodeRED System on Saturday. Fire Chief Ed Egut said anyone who is signed up for the system should receive a test phone call on that day. The test reminds people of the system and allows anyone who was mistakenly signed up to opt out. To sign up for the service, visit the city's CodeRED website
