Alan Scheufler Honored as This Year’s “BEA Friend of Education”

The award is given to a volunteer who goes above and beyond.

A “BEA Friend of Education” is someone who values public education, someone who backs his or her words with action, said Bonnie Monteleone, president of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Education Association. Every year, the association honors who has gone above and beyond on behalf of the students, the teachers and the school community.

“Alan, we see you as a man of integrity,” Monteleone said as a loud round of applause broke out in the audience at .

Monteleone highlighted Scheufler’s years of volunteer work for the district, from his work on levy campaigns to his time on the board to the Schools Foundation.

Scheufler accepted his award, saying he was “humbled and honored.” He told the crowd that he always tries to be part of the solution and listen to all sides of a story. A successful school district relies on all its parts, from the students to the staff to the parents.
