Board Elects New President, Approves Tax Budget

David Tryon is the Brecksville-Broadview Heights school board’s new president.

Monday’s meeting at the gave the Board of Education the chance to prepare for the year. Members of the board of education voted for Tryon to lead the group as its new president, and Mark Jantzen was re-elected to the position of vice president.

“We are enthusiastic and anxious to continue the district’s tradition of excellence, combined with fiscal responsibility and transparency,” Tryon read from a prepared statement. “We welcome input from parents and community members.”

The new board members— and —and re-elected member took the oath of office before the start of the meeting.

Members also voted on the tax budget for the 2013 fiscal year, which begins on July 1, 2012. Treasurer/chief financial officer Karen E. Obratil said the document just gives an estimate of the revenue the district expects to see throughout the year. The budget must be adopted by Jan. 15 and sent to the county auditor’s office by Jan. 20.
