Budgets, Awards and Calamity Days: Brecksville-Broadview Heights School News for the Week

It’s been a busy week for Brecksville-Broadview Heights school news. Here’s a list of the stories you might have missed:

  • On Monday, the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Board of Education met at the high school. The covered a wide range of topics. 
  • One of the most critical topics of conversation was the district’s budget. The some ways the district could save money, from approving more layoffs to implementing 100 percent pay to participate for student activities. Members decided to meet again on June 2 to further discuss the options without taking any immediate action. 
  • The a number of teachers and students and a former board member during the meeting. Terri Neff was named this year’s Brecksville-Broadview Heights Education Association’s Friend of Education. 
  • Students at Hilton and Highland Drive elementary schools have to spend an before starting summer vacation – both schools used six calamity days this year. Schools only get five excused days for inclement weather and other emergencies.
