The center is a high-achieving one, she added, and it will be a challenge to stay at the top. She said she is up for that challenge, and she praised both the board and the staff that will be supporting her mission.

The Cuyahoga Valley Career Center was recently recognized as no. 1 among Ohio’s 91 Career-Technical Planning Districts, according to a press release. That figure was based on the school’s performance in recent academic years on a variety of measures like graduation rate and the placement of graduates into continuing education or careers. The center serves eight school districts in the region, including , by offering career education for all grade levels, high school-level courses and adult education.

Shebeck said the board will meet with Roebuck closer to her start date to discuss goals and future plans, including whether her current position of assistant superintendent would need to be filled. Roebuck’s two-year contract will officially begin on July 1, after current superintendent Roscoe Schlachter’s contract ends.
