Eight Bees Recognized as National Merit Semifinalists

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights students will compete for scholarships later this year.

Eight Brecksville-Broadview Heights students have been named semifinalists in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship program.

According to information from the district, the semifinalists are as follows:

  • Matt Adrianowycz
  • Cecilia Chen
  • Stephen DiScenna
  • Nick Fallon
  • Claire Savage
  • Nivaas Thanoo
  • Lindsay Tryon
  • Cindy Zhao

“They are representative of the outstanding senior class of 2013 at our school,” Principal Joseph Mueller said in an email. “We are extremely proud of them, and expect more honors that will identify these students, and their classmates, as one of the finest groups ever at BBHHS.”

According to a press release from the corporation, about 16,000 high school seniors across the country have been named semifinalists and will compete for more than 8,000 scholarships this spring. The students qualified for the program by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as juniors. Finalists will be notified in February, and scholarship winners will be announced in the spring and summer.
