It’s Thursday, and you have no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We've got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

1. DRIVE-IN MOVIE NIGHT

Where/When: Brecksville Community Center, 1 Community Dr., Brecksville; Friday at dusk

Why Go: Enjoy the family-friendly Despicable Me. Concession items like candy, water and popcorn will be available for a small charge.

Where/When: 6001 Rockside Rd., Independence; from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday; registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

Why Go: Courses include budgeting, credit and debt management, insurance and retirement planning.

3. KIDZIBITS FAMILY EDUCATION CENTER

Where/When: History Center, 10825 East Blvd., Cleveland; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday

Why Go: In celebration of the grand opening of the recent expansion of the Kidzibits Family Education Center, the Western Reserve Historical Society is offering free admission to children 9 and under to the History Center.

Price: Admission is $8 adults, $7.50 seniors and $5 for children 10 and up.

4. BATTLE OF THE BANDS

Where/When: Eastgate Lanes, 2544 Wedgewood Dr., Akron; from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday

Why Go: The Akron bowling alley is hosting its first annual Battle of the Bands. Six area bands will compete for a $200 prize over six weeks. Tonight's band is Chil.

Price: $10

5. BATH TOWNSHIP HORSE SHOW

Where/When: Corner of Everett and Revere roads (across from Revere High School), Bath; at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday

Why Go: This year's show will likely have more than 400 events, 100 riders and more than 70 competition classes.

Price: Admission is $5 individual, $15 family.
