High School, Career Center Partnering to Offer New Class in Entrepreneurship

The class will be open to juniors and seniors and will begin in the fall.

Budding entrepreneurs will have a new outlet next year.

will begin offering a new honors business course in the fall in partnership with the . The course is called Entrepreneurial Leadership and Wealth Creation in a Global Economy, and it will give students a hands-on way to develop skills they would need to succeed in business.

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Board of Education approved the addition at .

“I think that’s great,” said Board President David Tryon. He added that he thinks the field is an important part of education.

Brecksville-Broadview Heights already offers a variety of options for students interested in pursuing business as a field, from its participation in the to an economics class they can take for college credit.

High school is a good time to “experiment with learning,” said high school Principal Joseph Mueller, and Brecksville-Broadview Heights wanted to make sure students had elective options outside of the traditional arts and foreign languages. 

“This course seemed like a natural,” Mueller said.

The course will be taught by a teacher from the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center at no cost to the district, Superintendent Scot Prebles said. It will last a full year and be open to juniors and seniors who have taken the proper prerequisites.
