The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District has posted the approved tentative agreements for the teachers union and the staff union on its negotiation news website.

The agreements for the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Education Association and the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Organization of Support Staff can be downloaded as PDFs in the top right corner of the page. The PDFs of the last Brecksville-Broadview Heights Education Association contract and the earlier union and board proposals for that agreement can also be found there.

Here are a few highlights from the new teachers’ union agreement:

  • The teachers will all have an eight-hour workday, the hours of which are defined by building in the agreement. Elementary school teachers will get 340 minutes of per week built into their schedules, and middle and high school teachers will get 400 minutes of planning time built in.
  • There are some small changes to the special education section, but the “advisory only” was not included.
  • The salary schedule will be frozen at the 2012-2013 levels, with no steps being taken in the 2013-2014 or the 2014-2015 school years. The step freezes will not be restored in the future. Teachers can earn more for doing additional coursework. The board can extend this contract and the step freezes for the 2015-2016 school year with prior notice to the union.

We’ll be taking a closer look at these new agreements in the upcoming days, so check them out and leave your questions in the comments below.
