School Board Confirms Dates to Continue Negotiation Talks

Conversations with the teachers union will start again on Monday.

The school board and the teachers and staff unions will soon resume negotiation meetings.

According to a press release from the , the board will begin meeting with the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Education Association and a federal mediator starting on July 30.

The and announced that it was turning negotiations over to a federal mediator on June 28. Scheduled negotiation meetings were canceled, and the new dates were dependent on the mediator’s schedule.

According to the release, the board, the teachers association and the federal mediator are scheduled to meet on July 30, Aug. 2 and Aug. 3. The board, the federal mediator and the staff union, the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Organization of Support Staff, are scheduled to meet on Aug. 23 and 27. These meetings are not open to the public. 

The public portion of the contract negotiations fight has picked up in recent weeks. On June 29, the board . On July 11, the , giving them the ability to issue a strike notice if an agreement is not reached.

The contracts officially ran out on June 30, and the board is honoring those until a new agreement is reached.
