School Board OK’s Drug-Testing Policy

New hires at the Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District will now be required to take a drug test.

While that may seem like common sense, pre-employment drug screening wasn’t a policy in place until the school board approved the measure on Monday night.

District treasurer Rick Berdine said the policy wasn’t based on any particular incident.

It’s just a housekeeping measure, he added.

“This applies to future new hires for the district, and is part of regularly reviewing policies and procedures for updating,” said Berdine.
