Update: Regional Scholarship of Entrepreneurial Engagement Winners

Two plans from Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School students won regional awards.

Earlier this spring, Brecksville-Broadview Height students participated in the , a local program that encourages students to think about the different steps it takes to create and market a new product. Participating students had to create detailed business plans for their products. 

’ students first competed against each other; the top plans from the high school were then passed along to the regional competition.  

According to an email from program director John Klipfell, two of those plans won at the regional competition. Klipfell said there were five total winning plans, and each team shared a $500 first-place prize.

The winning teams from Brecksville-Broadview Heights:

  • Canary Colours: Sujith Modugula, Aaron Markowitz and Veronica Thompson  
  • Derbee.com: Malcolm Cole, Matt Dietrich and Paul Williams

In an email, teacher Dathan Cole said the "Canary Colours" plan described a paint that would change colors to respond to airborne toxins. The "Derbee.com" idea was a website for digital textbook rental.
